INNS OF AURORA SPA

AURORA, NY — 2018-2021 | PHOEBE BEACHNER

Wellness has become such a driving force in hospitality, and this spa gave both the client and the design team a real opportunity to create a fully wellness-focused, holistic environment that felt true to the brand. The 25,000 sf building brings together everything guests need for a full reset: two hydrotherapy circuits, ten treatment rooms, custom locker areas, a Nordic-inspired café, a bright salon for hair and nail services, and a warm, traditionally styled reception space that welcomes guests in a calm, comfortable way.

A big part of the work was sourcing furniture and materials that could perform in a commercial setting while still feeling residential in scale and comfort. Everything needed to feel inviting and lived-in, but also durable enough for heavy, daily use. The client wanted the palette to feel joyful but still naturally inspired, so we leaned into the landscape surrounding the property. Throughout the building, we incorporated biophilic elements, textures, natural materials, and subtle references to the outdoors to help guests feel more rooted and relaxed as they move through the spa. The intention was always to create an experience that quietly supports wellbeing, not just through amenities, but through the full atmosphere.

Interior design services were completed in collaboration when employed with Hart Howerton. The images shown are construction progress photos, captured during scheduled site visits. The Spa was the first in the in the United States to receive the WELL Certification (Gold).
